There is no way to completely describe this show. I am something of an oldtimer (Old enough to have seen Led Zeppelin on their last North American tour in '77) and have seen a large number of concerts, some of which were outstanding. But having had a day or so to reflect on this show I can honestly say that it was probably the best show I have ever seen. From the opening chords of "Sometimes" to Mike's amazing finish to "Yellow Ledbetter" it was a non-stop show with virtually no chance to catch a breath between songs. About the time I was going to turn to my friend to comment on the last one the guys launched into another amazing version of one of their amazing songs. Highlights for me included "Present Tense", "Once" and "I Got Id" or as Eddie introduced it "I Got Shit". When the show was over my friend and I just sat down in our seats for the first time in about 2 hours in total amazement.

From my perspective in the 8th row (Thanks Ten Club...) the band seemed to be enjoying themselves. The start was a little tentative but by the time they were through "Hail, Hail" they were hitting their stride in a big way. I happened to be sitting in front of a reporter from the Charlotte Observer at the show. I am not sure that she understood what she was seeing (or hearing !) and left about half way through the show but I am hoping that she went away with the knowledge that this is a band that is greatly loved and admired by it's fans. This was a night (as I am sure they all will be on this North American tour) where the fans wanted the band to know how much we appreciate the music and to support the band as they continue to cope with the Roskilde tragedy.

If you don't have a ticket to see PJ when they come to or near your town get one.

Just get one...

As for me I am off to Greensboro tonight !!
