| Nothingman is one of those songs that is rare in a live set. It sounds like it was recorded using brushes but I like to use those Pro Mark "Bundle" sticks (with the red bands around them) because, they make a little more noise then brushes but are quieter then conventional sticks. Because of the quiet nature of the song almost any accent and tap pattern can be used as long as it follows the triplet feel of the song. This can be accomplished because of the slow speed of the song. Below the key is what the recorded version is playing. |
| The key to the right is to show some new note representation I'm using for this song. The notes on the snare line with the slanted head are grace notes. They are hardly used and help make the unique sound of the song. The normal note on that line is a regular note otherwise known as an accent. Because the song is in 2/4 time, the "6" above the 16th notes reminds us that these are sixteenth note triplets or "sextuplets." Or, in other words, there are six notes per beat. | |
