| W.M.A. is a very unique song. Actually, only the first two measures were recorded. They were then looped and played throughout the song. Dave (and Stone) can be heard throughout the song improvising with various percussion instruments on a different track. |
The same (looped) measure is played throughout the whole song.

There is a lot of left hand leading down the drums. The Hi-Hat stroke is played with the left hand and then immediately closed on the next sixteenth note to get the correct effect.
This may not be exact but it is "close enough".
Now onto one of my versions.
Here is what I play between the Verse section and during the Chorus section.
Ex: "All my pieces" and "police stopped my brother again"

Right hand - Eighth notes. The beat being on the bell of the ride cymbal and the off beats being on the 16" floor tom.
Left hand - Various sixteenth beats on the snare, 12", and 13" toms. It hard to explain but I think it fits well with the song.
Bass drum - Close to the recorded version. | | |
I know that my version looks kind of confusing so I broke down the right and left hands.
Here is what my Left hand is doing.

This is the improvisation hand.
This is just what I do but anything can be played here
(granted it fits with the song). |
Here is what my Right hand is doing.

This hand is very constant. |
Of course there is a bass drum part but I did not make a separate picture for that.
